Finger Paints Warm He-Art-Ed

Sally Beauty had a nice sale on clearance polish yesterday, I picked up some Finger Paints colors that are pretty great.
This is two coats of Finger Paints Warm He-Art-Ed, a taupe-y caramel with a pinkish/bronze shimmer. While a bit sheer, application was nice and dry time was quick- win!

Sally Hansen Punk Rock

I was at WalMart a few days ago and came across some Sally Hansen Hard as Nails polishes, all were just a couple dollars. This one was the most interesting to me, it's Punk Rock.
It looked mostly green in the bottle, but happily on the nail it's a duochrome! It's a dark green/teal, but at the right angles it changes to a rich blue.

I used three coats; the formula is easy to use, but a bit on the thin side.

Bonita Wicked Good Time

According to RiteAid, it's time for Halloween polish! : P
I found Bonita's Witches' Ball Halloween polish display yesterday and thought it might have been from last year, but nope! This year! lol
Acid green polishes are my weakness, so Wicked Good Time came home with me. I liked a couple of the others, but I'll wait till they go on sale to pick them up. There was a pretty dark blue and the silver/white looked interesting as well.
This is just one coat of Wicked Good Time, the formula was thick in a good way and applied easily enough. I wanted a touch more pizazz so I topped it with China Glaze Fairy Dust then Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat. The holographic micro glitter didn't change the color at all and added just a hint of sparkly goodness.

Edited to add... this stained my nails something fierce, I'll definitely be using a couple coats of base next time!

Orly Peaceful Opposition

I really like this polish! This is Orly Peaceful Opposition, a milky white base with small silver square and hex glitter. Once applied, the base takes on a hint of a rosy hue as well, it's pretty.
The base is pretty sheer, so I started with a coat of China Glaze Dandy Lyin' Around, a white shimmer. I followed with two coats of Peaceful Opposition. The glitter spread easily and I didn't have any formula issues. Dry time was fine, though I did top everything was Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat to speed things up. There is still some VNL, but with this kind of polish I don't mind.

OPI Alcatraz... Rocks

You ever have a polish that you love... but you've never worn it?

OPI Alcatraz... Rocks is that polish for me. I love the shimmer, love the name, love the Liquid Sand texture. I guess I just haven't been in a blue mood lately? Either way, this polish is gorgeous, just like I knew it would be.

So easy to apply and it dries very quickly. I actually only applied one coat, I like the lighter color and the opacity is really pretty good! I did do two coats on my left thumb, the color is darker, but just as lovely. I was trying to showcase the absolutely stunning gold shimmer in the last two photos, they didn't turn out the best... but the polish is gorgeous in person!

Sinful Colors Black on Black & Victoria's Secret Peep Show

I really like this combination! This is one coat of my favorite black creme, Sinful Colors Black on Black, topped with a layer of Victoria's Secret shimmery pink Peep Show.

The two polishes weren't playing the best together, so to seal everything I used a top coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Sri. Dry time still took a bit, but it was worth it. The black peeks through the pink shimmer just enough to almost give a purple-y effect, not quite duochrome, but close.

Sally Hansen Chartreuse Chase

Here is Sally Hansen Chartreuse Chase, part of their Insta-Dri line.
I used two coats and while I love the color, the formula was pretty frustrating to use. The first coat was streaky and for some reason the brush just wasn't as easy to get a nice line as other brands' brushes. Not to mention all the bubbles that appeared after the polish started drying as well as the fact that dry time was pretty long, especially given that it was just two coats. I also ended up getting a few dents quite a while after I applied the polish, probably due to the long dry time.

The color is pretty though and I've gotten several compliments, people can't really see the application issues I had so I guess it's all good.

Sally Hansen Work of Tart

What a pretty color! This is Sally Hansen's Work of Tart, a textured polish that's part of their Sugar Shimmer collection.

I picked up a bottle on clearance at Target this past weekend hoping that the color would be nice, I'm funny about blues on my nails and I couldn't quite tell from online swatches whether it'd work for me or not.

Well, I LOVE it! This is two thin coats and a thicker one, that got the opacity to where I liked it. Folks were saying it dried slow, which yes, it is slower than some of the OPI liquid sand polishes, but by the time the movie I was watching was done, it was dry enough to get ready for bed.
The color is a pretty teal green/blue with an obvious gold shimmer when outside. The shimmer was difficult to capture in photos, but in person it's really pretty.

Needless to say, I went back and picked up a couple back-up polishes the next day! : )

Nicole by OPI Promises in the Dark

This is a really pretty dark brown creme from Nicole by OPI called Promises in the Dark.

I received this polish as part of a giveaway on Facebook from Dove Chocolates... it was so much fun receiving a lovely polish surprise in the mail!

Of course the formula is perfect, almost a one-coater... this is two easy coats, no top coat. It has a lovely shine and dries very quickly.

Spoiled I'm So Jaded & Milani Sugar Burst

This is two coats of Spoiled I'm So Jaded, a bright lime green with a golden shimmer. There are a couple spots that could have used a third coat, but since I knew I was adding glitter I didn't do one.
I topped the green with a layer of Milani Sugar Burst, a baby pink glitter mix that also has some holographic bits mixed in. I'd been trying to find a base color that I liked with the baby pink, I think I really like it with the green! It's something different in any case. : )

LA Girl Burst

I don't have a great sheer pink yet... I have a few, but they're soo sheer that it takes too many coats to get the color and opacity where I want it.

For this result, I started with OPI No Bees Please, then a coat of Rimmel French Rose, then NY Color Pink Champagne, then another coat of French Rose. Layered over top is a coat of LA Girl's wonderful rose and holographic glitter, Burst.

The pink color got where I wanted it to, but that many layers took ages to set. I let everything dry before adding the glitter, Burst is smooth enough so I didn't add top coat.

Orly Masked Ceremony & Sinful Colors Queen of Beauty

I read some 'meh' reviews of Orly Masked Ceremony, but I eneded up really liking it.

The fuschia micro glitter is pretty hidden and the larger square glitters are kind of sparse, but I really like the dark grey/black base and the formula was easy to apply and quick to dry.

This is two coats of Masked Ceremony, then I added a thin coat of Sinful Colors silver glitter Queen of Beauty just to the tips. I really liked this "french manicure"... it was simple to do and is very forgiving.

China Glaze Sand Dolla Make You Holla

I LOVE THIS POLISH! : )
I loved this polish when I first saw swatches, but then I kept reading how people didn't care much for it so I didn't pick it up. I found a bottle at Ulta the other day on sale so I figured I'd give it a try.

This is three easy coats for opacity; this polish is super fun. It has this lovely soft pink/lilac tinge to the white base and all these teeny colored glitters. It truly looks like frosting.
The only thing about textured polish, for me, is waiting the day or so for the roughness along the free edge to wear down. The polish dried quickly and is wearing really well. It's a great polish for when you want something special, but nothing too dark or crazy.

OPI Miami Beet & LA Girl Burst

This was a pretty simple manicure, just a single coat of OPI Miami Beet then a couple layers of LA Girl Burst. I liked the way the holographic glitter bits in Burst modified Miami Beet's fuschia a bit.
Miami Beet isn't one of my favorite colors on its own, but the formula is great. Same for Burst.
