Rimmel Rags to Riches & Hard Metal

This is Rimmel Rags to Riches, a really pretty metallic olive green, and Rimmel Hard Metal, a medium metallic blue. Both are pretty on their own, I thought they would look nice together since the finishes and formulas are so similar.

I did a layer of Rags to Riches and then did French tips with Hard Metal. I wanted the blue to be a bit more subtle, so I topped the entire nail with another coat of Rags to Riches.
I like the effect and the Rimmel brushes are actually pretty decent to use to do the tips.

Rimmel Gold Silk

I really like this polish, this is Rimmel Gold Silk. It's a lovely champagne/taupey gold. Not brassy at all, it's a great almost-nude shade. Fancy nude!

I topped two coats of Gold Silk with a layer of China Glaze Fairy Dust, but the holographic sparkles aren't visible in the photo. It was really pretty in person though.

Sally Hansen Lady Luck

This pretty polish is from Sally Hansen's Gem Crush line, this color is Lady Luck. It's a rich raspberry red with great chunky holographic glitters. Application was nice, fairly straightforward. It's very glitter intense, some blobbing around to keep things even was required. The color got nice and saturated after two coats for me, I've read that others have needed three.

Worth noting, this polish gobbles up the top coat so per another blogger's recommendation, I used a layer of clear polish before a layer of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. Dry time was ok, I got a little bit of fabric wrinkles, but since the polish is so textured you really can't notice.

I really like this polish! I've had it for a little while without wearing it, I'm not sure why I waited so long. Now the question will be how difficult it's going to be to remove! Even if it's tough, it'll be ok since it's so pretty.

OPI Which is Witch? & Rimmel Steel Grey

I topped Rimmel Steel Grey with a couple easy coats of OPI Which is Witch? It's a nice glitter topper in a clear base, there are medium circles, microglitter, and teeny bar glitters- all holographic.
The two coats dried quickly and pretty smoothly. It's been wearing well also. Apologies for the tip wear!

Rimmel Steel Grey

Here is Rimmel Steel Grey. Grey is not obviously not the best word choice, I would say the color is a dusky combo of raisin, mauve, and greige.

It's a nice office-friendly color without being too boring. The first coat applied gorgeously, I truly love Rimmel's brushes. The second, however, seemed to take a while to dry and since I was in a hurry to get to bed I did end up getting some fabric marks in the finish. Oh well, it's still pretty.

Orly Intergalactic Space

Today's post features a pretty cool glitter, Orly Intergalactic Space from their Galaxy FX collection.
I really like the colors and the white circles look just like planets.

The formula was ok, by the time I was doing my right hand it started feeling a bit thick and the circles were more difficult to fish out. (I've been storing the bottle upside down.) I topped two coats of Intergalactic Space with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat for some added shine.
Worth noting, this was a beast to remove. I figured it would be since it's pretty much solid glitter, but even the pure acetone I was using was having a time of it.

Apologies for the blurry photo, I just could not get the camera to focus! Glitter overload I suppose.

Different Dimension Petal'd & Rimmel Wild Orchid

YAY for glitters that apply like a dream and are just so darn pretty!

This is my first polish from Different Dimension's Spring 2014 line, Petal'd. It has a clear base with teeny holographic glitter and lots of larger pastel circle glitters. Application was super easy, absolutely NO problem with getting glitters out.
I used one coat of Petal'd over one coat of Rimmel Wild Orchid. I did add a layer of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri afterwards since I didn't want any of the edges of the glitter to get caught on anything. Most lay perfectly flat though.

I'm so impressed by this brand, I'm looking forward to adding more of their beautiful polishes to my collection. Different Dimension can be found on Etsy.

Rimmel Wild Orchid

I really love Rimmel's polishes. Their brush works the best for me, their colors are pretty, and the formula is fantastic. Many, like this, are one-coaters!

This is Rimmel Wild Orchid. It's a vivid violet creme and I'm sure it will be just perfect under many glitters.

Revlon Lavender Soap

This polish is also from Revlon's Parfumerie line, Lavender Soap. It's pretty, but obviously frosty and brushstroke-y.

I was hoping to use it under some glitter, but that didn't work out the best. It has a nice fresh smell to it and really isn't that bad of a frost.

Revlon Wintermint

You ever get a polish that you're not 100% on, but other people like it so much that it must be good?

This is one of those polishes for me, Revlon Wintermint from their Parfumerie line. It's a metallic seafoam green with small teal/blue glitters and has a slight minty smell when dry. I really like it!

The formula was pleasant to work with, the first layer was sheer, but with a slightly thick second layer everything was fine. I did use three layers on a couple fingers, but two is really ok. Application was nice and there's a great glitter payout. You can see a bit of VNL in the photos, but it's not obvious in person. Also, brushstrokes weren't an issue which is nice.

The polish does dry a bit grainy, and while that doesn't bother me much, I added a top layer of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri to help prolong wear time.

Gamer Gloss Decoy Octopus

These thermal polishes are so cool! This is Gamer Gloss' version, Decoy Octopus. It's a sheer yellow green when warm and a medium green when cold, it also has a minimal amount of black and silver glitter mixed in. There are some larger black hex glitters, but I didn't try to get them; I'm sure turning the bottle upside down a bit would help. I really like the minimal glitter look, it's interesting. I also happen to adore the name, I love cephalopods.

This is four coats of Decoy Octopus and a layer of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri. On the one hand, I wish it didn't take as many coats since I feel like I'm going to want to hoard this neat polish. On the other, all the different layers create a cool jelly sandwich look with the glitters and the end result is a nice thick coat of polish... it's wearing like iron! I'm going on four days or so with nothing but some minor tip wear.

Something interesting, for the first couple days all I really saw was the light green except when I ran cold water over my nails, and even then it changed back really quickly. But recently, there's been much more variety in the shades of green. My nails will be darker green for a couple hours now, and I haven't noticed that much of an outside temperature difference. I like how the polish is always changing, it's really cool. I'm so glad it's wearing well as I plan to keep it on as long as I can!

SpaRitual Invention & China Glaze Unplugged

NOW we're talking! This is SpaRitual Invention over China Glaze Unplugged.

Invention is the prettiest green/gold glass fleck, it's even pretty in the bottle. The formula is easy to apply, but sheer so I think some undies give it the oomph that really shows it off.
I layered two coats of Invention over two coats of Unplugged and since I needed to go to bed soon, I hurried up the drying time by using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri top coat.

I asked my son what color he thought my nails were and he said "bluegill", referring to the pretty fish that's so common in the lakes around here. I couldn't agree more!

China Glaze Unplugged

Not the best photos, but you get the idea. This is China Glaze Unplugged, a shimmery medium brown.
This definitely needs at least two coats, the first was thin and streaky. I knew I was going to be topping it with another polish later, but it looked ok by itself at two. It's not my favorite color, but I do think it'll make good undies for some other polishes I have.

More Orly Sparkling Garbage!

More pictures because I'm obsessed with this amazing polish and can't stop ogling over its sparkling holographic yumminess!

Please ignore the horrendous tip wear on my index finger, that's China Glaze Cosmic Dust. That's the other thing about Sparkling Garbage, it's wearing like iron!
